Description

Beginner BMX sessions – Saturdays 9.00-10.00am Please arrive by 8.45am.
Any hire equipment will be issued on a first come, first served basis. Please read through the requirements below.

Consent form to be printed, completed and brought to the first session. Riders will not be able to take part until this is completed.

Skill level – Must be able to ride a bike already. Riders also need to be able to confidently pedal a bike standing out of the saddle to benefit from the sessions.

What to wear – Full finger gloves, long sleeved top & long pants. Full face helmet – limited quantity available to hire if you don’t have one yet. Body armour, knee, shin, elbow pads are all optional. No shorts unless wearing knee pads. Footwear – trainers with laces tucked out of the chains way.

Bikes – Ideally riders will use their own bikes for the sessions. A limited number of BMX race bikes are available to hire but cannot be reserved. If using your own bike it doesn’t have to be a race specific BMX – a normal BMX or mountain bike will do – but they need a working rear brake and stunt pegs need to be removed. Ideally the seat can be set low to allow plenty of room to move the bike up and over the jumps while standing up on the pedals.

Parent / guardian responsibilities – Parents / guardians need to remain on site during the session. Parents must make the coaches aware of any health issues that could affect the rider and take appropriate precautions. Parents / guardians also need to be ready to help their child get around the track (coaches can’t push a child up a jump while maintaining social distance). In the event of the child falling off their bike the parent guardian will ideally be first on hand to help the child. If the parent / guardian is unable to help a coach or club volunteer can perform basic first aid.

What we cover – The beginner sessions help the riders gain basic skills to get around the track unassisted. We aim to build them towards starting from the top of the hill and learning to balance on the start gate. Once the rider can balance on the gate and safely complete full laps they are ready for the main 10am coaching sessions where we work on progressing their BMX racing skills.

Please provide at least 24hrs notice if you need to cancel your place. Your place can then be offered to another rider. If the club cannot offer your place to another rider, we cannot provide a refund unless a valid reason is made.
